Enemmän suomeksi!

I'm an ecologist and field biologist. During recent years I have been concentrated on biodiversity in rural landscapes and restoration of old pasture habitats.

Earlier I was mostly involved in forest issues, studying wood decaying fungi in boreal forests. My Ph.D.-studies at the topic "Polypore (Basidiomycetes) communities in intact and managed boreal forest landscapes of Finland and Russian Karelia" are now waiting for a better moment.

The Ph.D.-study-project was connected to the research project Structure and dynamics of natural and managed boreal forest landscapes - Linking landscape pattern, stand structure and species diversity.

My hobbies include pilates, organic gardening and hobby-agriculture. My family consists of a husband, a 11-years-old daughter Iiris and 8- and 5-year-old sons Alpo and Urho. As a common hobby we have few (traditional/ecological) construction and house-fixing projects going on.
